Bending Spoons Cuts Eventbrite Workforce, Accelerates Product Overhaul Post-Acquisition

Bending Spoons has reduced a significant portion of Eventbrite’s workforce following its acquisition of the U.S.-based company, as part of a broader strategy to streamline operations and accelerate product development.

Workforce Restructuring After Takeover

Andrea Parodi, who assumed leadership of Eventbrite after the deal closed in March, said the layoffs followed an internal review of the business. Affected employees were offered what the company described as substantial separation packages.

Workforce reductions are common in post-acquisition integrations, as new owners seek to eliminate redundancies and improve operational efficiency.

Focus on Product Improvements

Alongside the restructuring, Bending Spoons has outlined a series of product enhancements aimed at improving platform performance and user experience.

Recent updates include:

  • Faster event creation workflows
  • Redesigned creator profile pages
  • Improved event image quality
  • Clearer ticket confirmation emails

The company said additional features are scheduled for release later this month, such as:

  • Offline ticket access via the Eventbrite mobile app
  • Enhanced check-in windows for ticket scanning
  • Multi-slot scanning for overlapping sessions

Driving Faster Development Cycles

Bending Spoons is also integrating its own engineering and product teams into Eventbrite to accelerate development and deliver updates more quickly.

The strategy aligns with the company’s broader business model, which focuses on acquiring established digital platforms and optimizing them through operational efficiency and product innovation.

A Pattern of Strategic Acquisitions

Bending Spoons has previously acquired and revamped several well-known digital services, including WeTransfer, Vimeo, and AOL.

The company has indicated ambitions for further growth, with CEO Luca Ferrari stating in late 2025 that it could pursue an initial public offering as early as 2026.

Looking Ahead

With a valuation of approximately $11 billion following its latest funding round, Bending Spoons is positioning itself as a major player in the digital platform space.

Its approach to Eventbrite—combining workforce restructuring with rapid product iteration—signals a continued focus on operational efficiency and platform modernization as it integrates newly acquired businesses.
